October 30, 2025 BUILDING A CAREER For this year’s “Building a Career” panel, the Membership Committee invites proposals for an interactive workshop that explores the diverse experiences of careers within the fields of children’s and young adult literature and proposes ways we may best support one another and our students through navigating an often tumultuous professional landscape. Read the full CFP here. If you are interested in participating in this panel/workshop, please send a 250-word proposal to Sarah Minslow at [email protected] by October 30. In one document, please include your name, your affiliation, your proposed topic, and a short (max. 100-word) bio.
October 30, 2025 SYLLABUS SWAP For this year’s “Syllabus Swap” panel, the ChLA Membership Committee invites proposals for an interactive workshop that focuses on how concepts of community, place, and belonging shape our teaching practices. We seek proposals that examine how we create inclusive classroom neighborhoods, connect across disciplinary boundaries, extend academic work into local communities, and help students navigate the complex neighborhoods—both real and imagined—within children's and YA literature.
