2021 Conference FAQWhy is the 2021 ChLA conference being held virtually?As much as we may wish to gather together in person, the health and safety of our community is paramount. The availability ofa SARS-CoV-2 vaccine alone does not end the current global pandemic. This reality, coupled with an uneven vaccine rollout, ongoing travel restrictions, emerging COVID variants, and other evolving pandemic-related issues, led the ChLA Board and conference organizers to determine that it is neither feasible nor advisable for us to meet in person. When and where will the 2021 conference convene?The 2021 conference will be held from June 9-13, 2021. We will convene virtually. ChLA will spend the next 4 months working hard to plan an engaging and unique conference experience that captures, as much as possible, the spirit and community of our in-person events. What will happen to the 2021 conference proposal I submitted?All 2021 conference submissions have been automatically considered for the virtual conference. The theme (“The Arcade”) remains the same. Results of the proposal reviews will be shared in the coming days. Now that the conference is virtual, I would love to submit a proposal. What can I do?We recognize that holding our event virtually will make it possible for many people who were not planning to travel to Atlanta, Georgia this summer to present papers. We are therefore re-opening our proposal submission system. We will accept new proposals until March 31, 2021. Submitters will be notified of the results by the end of April. Submit your proposal hereWhat is the 2021 ChLA virtual conference going to look like?We will be working closely with Meeting Expectations, the Atlanta conference organizers, and several of our committees (including the conference advisory and accessibility committees) to create a unique conference experience this summer. In addition to panels and presentations, we will be incorporating social events and informal gatherings into the conference.
